A Father's Day commission...

My friend Aaron commissioned me on this piece a few weeks ago. It's a 20x24" mixed media and acrylic on canvas. She loved the other father and daughter painting of mine so much, and it reminded her of a picture she took of her husband and daughter at the lake two years ago, so she asked me to do a painting of it!

I hope this painting gives them years and years of memories and happiness...

A memory quilt...

I am so nostalgic that even the thought of parting with Sisi's baby clothes brings me to tears, but I couldn't just hold onto these items in a plastic bin forever, so my mom and I got to work. We cut out 60 squares from her clothing. Was it ever painful to cut through those pieces. I knew that this project wasn't one that could just sit, unfinished. If I was going to cut those up, they had better be made into something really special. All of the squares are made of memories, and it makes me smile.

The little pink and blue embroidered flowers come from a little lime green dress that I adored. It was so sweet and girlie, it had to be a part of this quilt. This piece will always make me smile.

I wanted to keep pockets and ruffles and gathering from dresses to be reminded that they are, indeed, from her amazing little pieces of clothing. Pieces that once fit a tiny little body...

I traced her hand and appliqued it to the quilt with some hand-embroidered lettering saying her age, because I'm giving this to her for her third birthday.

I think this speaks for itself...

Just to remind her that she's loved...

To my Little Red, with love.

XOXO
